SPOILERS
WHOA I did not see that one coming!
In the beating a dead horse department, I still want to say I don't buy
that there are no residual effects of the Syntox in CTU. Don't tell me
no particles are on the desks, on papers & still generally in the air.
OK, I give up now.

"Sentox", I think. But yeah, that bothered me too, as did Jack wiping
his hands off on his clothing (and maybe even his face) upon returning
to the enclosed area a couple hours ago after trying to get to the
computer. For him to even expose his skin was silly, but they explained
that away with that line they threw in about how the exposure time
wasn't long enough to do any harm. I guess we're supposed to believe
now that it doesn't really linger on any surface or anything. Seems a
stretch.

The gas eats away at seals around doors, but seems to have no effect on
computer memory, drives or media...
|
I know that the terrorists are still out there, but Jack got focused
pretty quick after Tony's death. But I guess we can't spend twenty
minutes with Jack sitting and moping and Audrey telling him "We need
you back out there Jack."
fruitbat...
|
Yeah, they left that dangling a little. Too much this season it seems
they've ignored certain plots or characters just out of convenience,
and it has made the show seem uneven.
|
Doug Main...
|
Every other event sparks Jack to immediate action, except the death of
his pal. Then we get 10 minutes of hanky time while the bad guy walks off.
|
Now that Henderson escaped, it sure is convenient, er um, nice that
Chloe was able to decrypt one of his files. It is always funny how
they are only able to decrypt a name, never a sentence saying "This
person X does this in the conspiracy and reports to so and so." By
the way, Henderson escaping reminds of how irritated I was with Marwan
constantly getting away.
fruitbat...
|
Yeah, that bothered me. Before, it was "There's no way I can decrypt
this!" and now it's mentioned by another character as a matter of
course. Sloppy.
|

|
These guys have all the technology in the world, but can't contain a
single bad guy who's on foot.
|
MISSING CONVERSATION: Between Jack and Curtis. "Dude. You punched
me, knocked me out and left me by some bushes." "Curtis WE DON'T HAVE
TIME FOR THIS NOW. You can sucker punch me when this is done."
fruitbat...
|
Another dangling thread. It seems the writers expect the audience to go
along for the ride without remembering anything that's happened in
previous episodes... That's not how I prefer to watch, though.
|
CK...
|
Exactly. "Oh no problem Jack. If I follow protocol and do my job as I am
told and get in your way, feel free to bash me over the head, drop me off
knocked out somewhere, and steal my vehicle. It's totally cool. I know
you're Jack Bauer, and whatever you do is always accepted and swept under
the rug. Hey even if you take out the president, I know that was your only
choice and I am okay with that."
|
Doug Main...
|
This seems off to me as well.
|
Curtis and the rest of the team fell in line pretty quickly behind
Jack. Jack really has the best of both worlds now. He can give orders
and people follow him without question, but he can always say "I don't
work for CTU" and break protocol.
fruitbat...
|
He'd better not keep doing that. It's too convenient, and last night's
bit with the wet list would have been poor writing if not for the
reveal at the end (though it still didn't impress me much, and either
way I felt bad for the British German guy!).
|
I just gotta' say again I like Collette.
And yes Lynn McGill should have made a crazed run for the door rather
than going back to that room and waiting to die.
GRIMACE... taking over Edgar's station. That hurts. I hope that guy
doesn't become a mole, but I can see him being tied to the VP.
Curtis, Curtis! Stop taking chances, stop being the lead guy. Every
time he runs through a door first I come close to biting off my lip.
I just knew Jack wouldn't let some German Jack Bauer Wanna Be get the
best of him. I wonder if all CTU memory chips come with a set to
explode option?
fruitbat...
|
Guess so... I hope Jack didn't normally keep have anything important on
that flash card...
|
Doug Main...
|
You can get an exploding memory chip/card/thing at Radio Shack, can't you?
|
By the way, never tell Jack "You can't touch me!"
The Wet List. Sort've like what the British Guy wanted in S3 right?
Note to any Federal agencies watching this: Keep a fake or exploding
Wet List around just in case we need to give it to someone.
fruitbat...
|
The opposite, IIRC. The British guy in S3 wanted our list of our
operatives. Jack offered our list of enemy operatives. The compromise
would have been to our investigations of those operatives, not the
lives of our operatives necessarily.
|
Doug Main...
The Old Spill the Coffee in the Lap Trick. I have seen this so many
trillions of times that if someone ever does spill a drink on me, I
will KNOW that they are secretly up to something and I will stand there
soaking wet rather than leaving the room.
So Bierko is torching his first hideout. Any chance CTU will learn
about the fire, get there and find in the ashes one the one tiny piece
of evidence that didn't burn?
fruitbat...
|
I was expecting that they'd get there and walk into it just as he was
about to detonate the place, as has happened before...
|
Doug Main...
|
Collete already told them the location.
|
Hey how was Collette able to drive around so easily with the curfew
being imposed?
Doug Main...
|
More to the point, how does a city of several million get an army
deployed and ready in 10 minutes, plus notify every citizen that a
curfew is in place?
|
Did anyone think about Claudia when Jack and the German guy had that
talk in the car?
"Are we alright?" I loved that.
Jack has a 5 o'clock shadow on his face. did that ever happen really
in other seasons?
Poor Wayne Palmer. He should have called Jack first. It's good to see
DB Woodside still working. I gotta admit I would LOVE IT if he ran
into a cougar out in the woods!
fruitbat...
|
The whole bit with Palmer was pretty bad... Out of nowhere, almost as
if it was put there solely to give more evidence of the VP's
evilness...
|
Doug Main...
|
Another hilarious comment.
|
Hey, how is the German guy driving around so easily with the curfew
going?
I would have loved to see Collette get 'interrogated' a little more.
Oh well.
And then the big shocker! I really hope Audrey is not going to go Nina
on us. She can only partially be involved. She would never have
deliberately stayed in CTU knowing Syntox was going to be released.
She also took risks to get Jack into Henderson's company. I think
Audrey is only a patsy. But her interrogation is going to be rough.
fruitbat...
|
I hated the ending. They'd better have an awfully good explanation for
going down that path...
|
By the way, I wonder if Bierko has his getaway plane waiting at Van
Nuys, LAX or Ontario airports. Of course he isn't going to release
this nerve gas and then stick around.
CK...
|
That would take some real nerve. No pun intended. :)
