The finale is 5/24/06. So I guess you could safely turn on Fox after
that. (The theater is real.)

My main frustration with this "Idol" nonsense, however, is its effect

But then without "Idol"s help "House" may have been cancelled last
January. Same with "24," which probably wouldn't have made it past

I know there was some thought when "House" first debuted more than
a year ago that it was riding an "Idol" boost, but it soon proved
otherwise when "Idol" finished. I never heard about it being in
danger of cancellation in January.

When it debuted "House" was airing after "Rebel Billionaire" and
getting around 6 million viewers. Sure it can stand on its own now but
without "Idol" all those extra viewers wouldn't have discovered the
show and it could very well have been gone by now.

season 2. "Bones" probably would be gone as well, or at least not
doing as well as it is now and would've been gone by the end of the
season.
