The interviewer is almost beside the point, but David does a perfectly good

He was one of my favorite guests on the "Tonight Show" back when Johnny
Carson was hosting it. Somewhere I still have a copy of his "David
Steinberg... Disguised as a Normal Person" LP.

And told one of the funniest stories I've ever heard, about the time he saw
a woman at a party, across a crowded room. She made him think of a vine
covered cottage with a white picket fence . . . just down the street from a
cheap motel. He gathered his courage and crossed the room and said . . .
"hi"
She turned to him and said "huh?"
He went back to his side of the room . . . because if 'hi' stumped her . . .
