On a scale of 1-10 what did you give it?

Girl calls 911 to save her mother and they both get capped (even if
offscreen)

The unbelievable part is that the operator didn't tell the little girl
to stop playing with the phone.

Call it 9.5. It was slow there for awhile. But it wrapped up with a
smokin' gun battle. Is it just me, or does 24 do the best shootouts in the
history of TV? Not even old Miami Vice episodes can compare.

I'm thinking that anyone that helps Jack should wear a red shirt.
Michael O'Connor...

I thought Wayne Palmer was going to buy it for sure; his future is
certainly not guaranteed the longer he hangs around Jack. I've really
come around on Wayne Palmer; I didn't like him when he worked for his
brother in Season 3, but he is a much more interesting character now.

I would make a prediction that if Jack quits/gets killed on the show,
that WP will move up and take his place, with Curtis as his sidekick.
It's been interesting to watch his genesis from a zero kill expert to
a professional within the span of a few short hours.
OTOH, I'm going to be very TICKED off if it turns out he's the mole who
caused his brother's death. Grrr. >:-(

I like DB Woodside, but I don't see him taking over for Jack. I'd
rather see Curtis step up. I'd have believed Tony as the lead in a
heartbeat, but oh well...

Poor, naive bank manager. I'm surprised that Jack could hold in his
laughter when the guy said he was probably better off sticking with
Jack. At least Jack gave a quick under his breath "dammit" when Palmer
told him that the guy was dead.
The funniest red shirt incident was two weeks ago when they raided the
gas distribution plant. I almost fell off my chair laughing when the
one guy got shot while watching the gun fight through the little window
in the door.

It was real nice of Jack to volunteer those cop's lives so he could escape.
I wonder what their families think of Jack's plan.
jayembee...
|
That would depend on what they think when they find out that their
President was behind it.

I had the same thought.

I think many of us did. Sure, it's only a show, but we like to see some
humanity in it. Like much earlier this season in the airport, when they
removed Derek from the public execution and substituted another boy, I
thought 'just another mother's son' and wondered if Derek would think about
that later. Silly, eh? I guess i should be worrying about why I don't
think that Chloe is "hot".

I'm curious, what do you do when armed men are waiting outside to kill you
in the street? I have to say calling the police would be high on my list
of alternatives.
Jeffrey Kaplan...
|
I think the point was that Jack's calling for the cops wasn't to get
the bad guys arrested, it was to distract them by having them SHOOT THE
COPS.
bklyntv...
|
Jack said that. He said the fireplay between the cops & Henderson would
be their diversion to escape. No need to warn the cops, they were
expendable.

Well, if you want the truth, he could have called voice and told them that
they would be coming in facing automatic weapons fire and to prepare for
that but hurry and if they had a tank send that or hook up with the NG
(which did show up at the last minute, but not before the cops were dead).
When the cops/NG ran into that they would not have been concerned about 3
civilians running out the front door of the bank, IOW, it would have been
the same scenario for jack and co. except that the cops would not have been
tremendously outgunned and killed. And yes, Carl the bank guy should have
stayed in the vault and had jack lock him in. (Will anyone go untie Mrs.
BankGuy?)

They didn't call the police. They pressed a silent alarm. Duiring martial
law. So, a) the military should have responded if anyone, and b) the cops
should have assumed the worse.

Marc Dashevsky...
|
Yeah, but you give'em a clue that they'll be facing paramilitaries.

Steven de Mena...

Jack didn't do it for himself, he did it for his country, so he could expose
Logan.
|
|
|
Well, when you have a gun shootout just about every episode... one of
them's bound to be good.

Let's face it. Nothing was ever as exciting as the first two hours of Day 4
which scores a 10.

How can something so implausible be so much fun?
David B...
|
Because it's done well. If it sucked then the implausible stuff would
bug us so much we'd stop watching.

One of the better episodes I've seen. Really well balanced and Jack got
to threaten another woman!

Doug Main...

Maybe a 7-8. I liked everything, except Henderson's #2 back up killer
squad arrived at the bank within 5 minutes of Henderson getting the bank
location from Evelyn. Where were they marshalled that they could evade
all the patrols that Jack was worried about, and get to the bank so
fast? I can ignore and get past a lot of stuff, but when the entire
premise is "real time" you really should make some sort of effort to
hold to it.
And what is Henderson doing driving around unmolested? Even with an
unrestricted sticker on his car, he would have to go through checkpoints.

Can't shoot her too quickly; she may have lied about where Jack had
gone.
*
Why didn't they use the phone to CALL the police, instead of using the
silent alarm? They could tell how many people are outside the building,
and that they have assault rifles, so the cops would bring a SWAT team
instead of just driving up with their bubblegum machines turned on.
Jeffrey Kaplan...
|
How to explain +how+ he knew there were bad guys outside?
Jack: "There's a bunch of armed men outside the bank, send the SWAT
team."
911: "How do you know this?"
Jeffrey Kaplan...

Getting Jack out is a piece of cake; just do a Hannibal Lector. Cover
part of his face with a bandage soaked with red ink, tell the cops his
name is Thomas, and get him on an ambulance.
Evelyn Martin shouldn't have gotten up. I saw that one coming.
The DHS morons should have put two transponders on Audrey's car.
Audrey should have told Chloe "Call me at my home in 25 minutes and tell
me that I forgot my pocket calendar. Do not use any sort of encrypted
line." Then she should have gone home, parked her car, gotten dressed
for bed, and when she answered the phone should would just say "Okay,
thanks. I'll have to get it tomorrow. Have you heard from Jack?" Then
shut off the light and get in bed. THEN wait half an hour, and use her
secure cell phone to make a few more calls. Audrey doesn't have to be
physically at the airport; she doesn't have any evidence of her own.
She just needs to get Jack and her Dad in the same place at the same
time.
