I'm serious.
I know, the liberal-lefties will say, "Of couse not, it's far too
reactionary to be mainstream." And the righty-neocons will say, "Of
course not, it doesn't subscribe to the same political agenda as the
MSM."
But given all the outrage over the misreporting on the West Virginia
miners (blame for which, IMHO, is shared by everyone), does Fox count
as part of the MSM that got it wrong for three hours? Or did it
actually do a better job than CNN and MSNBC?

I noticed on "Fox and Friends" Wednesday morning they were real quick to
show all the newspapers that ran the wrong headline _except_ the Rupert
Murdoch-owned NY Post. Fortunately, CNN showed the Post front page lol.
FNC likes to maintain that it's not part of any "mainstream", and defends
its self-imposed underdog status. But when you are trouncing rival networks
in the ratings, how you can continuously refer to them as "mainstream media"
while excluding yourself is at least an exercise in self-deception.

Not necessarily.
Fox is part of the mainstreamedia, I'd say.
But I've heard the term used most about a *majority* of outlets. If someone
says the MSM slants one way, or reported on X in some particular fashion, it
doesn't follow or mean that all news orgs in the MSM did. They're simply
speaking of a majority.
Over time trends develop and there again, the MSM gets color, character and
personality assigned to it, despite the fact that in most cases some orgs or
outlets do not follow the majority trend. Nex
