There is more to it than that. Studies show that
blacks on average watch more television than
whites so for a network looking to attract a niche audience with high
viewing levels it makes sense
to have more programming that would appeal
to a black audience. Shows with a black lead
character or a large supporting cast will also
attract a certain number of white viewers as well.
The networks understand these viewing trends so
you have a great many shows with either a majority
black cast or a certain number of black supporting
characters.

For some reason I remember Benson having a killer theme song. I'll
tune in once just to hear it again.

Plus, even though they only show the same 50 or so episodes over and
over, I am glad TV Land shows SCTV.
